The electrical behavior of superconducting thin-film microbridges self-heating and superconducting quantum processes

چکیده
2014 Measurements of the I-V curves of superconducting thin-film microbridges are reported and used to infer some new results regarding the electrical behavior of these devices. At temperatures well below Tc their behavior is found to be dominated by the effects of self-heating. At low voltages near Tc where heating is not important, it is found that the observed behavior is best understood in terms of a phase-slip mechanism and that the normal currents which flow during the phase-slip process extend over a range determined by the quasiparticle diffusion length. Even near Tc heating becomes important at high voltages and probably puts a limit on the maximum voltage (hence Josephson frequency) up to which useful Josephson-like behavior can be obtained. Fate of the Josephson effect in thin-film superconductors
The dc Josephson effect refers to the dissipationless electrical current – the supercurrent – that can be sustained across a weak link connecting two bulk superconductors.1 This effect is a probe of the fundamental nature of the superconducting state, which depends crucially on the spatial dimensionality of the superconducting electrodes. For bulk (i.e. threedimensional) superconductors, the su...
متن کاملEffects of Substrate Preparation on the Stress of Nb Thin Films
It is well known that intrinsic stress plays an important role in the superconducting material properties of niobium (Nb) thin films and in the resulting electrical characteristics of superconducting-insulating-superconducting (SIS) junctions made from these films. The role of sputtering pressure, gun operating parameters and substrate fixturing on Nb film stress has been investigated by a numb...

The conventional eddy current method for non-destructive inspection of welding joints has limitations that can examine defects to a certain depth below the surface of the sample and is not suitable for determining deep defects. This limitation can be overcome using the SQUID superconducting sensors. The nonstoichiometric composition of YBCO due to its superconducting temperature and desired cri...

Influence of distributed generation systems in the distribution systems can increase the level of short-circuit current. The effectiveness of distributed generation systems is affected by the size, location, type of distributed generation systems technology, and the methods of connecting to distribution systems. Wind turbine system is the examples of distributed generation source. Not only does...
